The Purpose Of Our Existence

Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park, Tasmania.

OUR EARTHLY BEING (the everyday self that we ‘think’ we are) is completely unaware of the fact that we have lived many previous lives, inhabiting many different bodies while knowing ourselves by many different names.

In our multitude of lives, we have experienced an infinite variety of what life has to offer as we struggled to learn how to survive, grow and prosper in this foreign, hostile world. Each one of our many lifetimes was a stepping stone on our journey to exactly where we are right now.

Although our everyday mind does not know this, deep down inside of us, there is the subtle awareness of the ‘One Who Knows’... our True Self, that does know. We have done this countless times, advancing to the next level once we have learned... or repeating life on the same level if we haven’t.

The whole purpose of our existence is to experience and learn what it is like to be a physical human being, enabling us over a period of lifetimes to advance to higher levels of consciousness, compassion, love and understanding.

In our many lifetime experiences, we are at all times
the total of what we have ever been and done,

what we have fought for and defended, what we have loved and hated.

All of our lifetime experiences are remembered by the ‘One Who Knows’ and is carried over to the following life, so our mental abilities, our aptitudes, our aversions and preferences, our fears, our follies, our ambitions, our character are the sum total of what we have learned from our many lives since the beginning.

So every personality (our individual, earthly persona) is different from every other personality. We are different than others in our likes and dislikes, in our desires and dreams, in our joys and sorrows, our handicaps, our strengths, our weaknesses, our virtues and vices, our appreciation of beauty and also in our comprehension of the truth.

So what have you learnt so far in this, your present lifetime? Do you feel confident that next lifetime you will be worthy of advancing onward to a higher level, or do you have an uneasy feeling that you may very well have to repeat class the next time around?..

____________By experiencing who you truly are not.”
